Great question!
Although aluminium is recyclable, a significant portion – estimates suggest around 70% – end up in landfill.
For those pods which do make it to recycling, they need to be shredded, the coffee separated, the varnish burnt and the aluminium re-smelted again.
This process requires a lot of transportation and energy.
No solution is perfect; each has its pros and cons, but we believe compostable pods are the best choice for our planet.
