Sustainability and bringing value to our customers is at the heart of everything we do here at Urban Brew. From our biodegradable coffee pods to our handwritten notes and giveaways, I believe that I have truly created a special customer experience here. But I want to take it up a notch and give you even more value with some tips, tricks and how to’s!
I’ve already written a blog about different uses for your leftover coffee grounds, but I hadn’t even thought about ways of reusing our packaging! I know that there have been a lot of customer requests for us to offer bulk packaging to reduce the amount of cardboard usage, but due to the way our production line has been built and set up, the packaging we currently use is necessary.
The other weekend when I was hanging out with my son Louis, I was trying to think of some fun activities that we could do together, and often this leads to doing some arts and crafts together. I had a little flashback to when I was a kid and I used to make origami to sell to my parent’s friends (this was actually the start of my entrepreneurship) and thought about useful ways to reuse our packaging with some good old origami!
One of our team members created this awesome pen holder using our packaging, and it looks super cool and quirky and actually holds together really well! If you’re interested in making one for a little arts and crafts project, read on!
You will need:
- 9 x Urban Brew boxes
Origami is much easier to learn through watching an instructional video, so you can watch the YouTube video that we used HERE.
In the video, they cut their paper into 20x20cm squares, but the maximum size you can cut from our packaging is 15x15cm, which you will need to measure and draw out on each packet.
Pretty neat, huh? If you have any questions or some origami suggestions, please comment below, I’d love to hear from you!
