In saying all of this, pods are only the better option for the environment if you use compostable pods. The big dogs in the coffee pod world are known for their aluminium pods. Little known, though, is the fact that these pods take 500 years to breakdown in landfill. It’s clear that this harm outweighs the benefits of reducing food miles.
