HOW TO STORE YOUR COFFEE PODS

We hear you, we get it: you love to let it rip. And by rip, we mean busting out our pods from their pouch and storing them in fancy containers. You're all into topping up your shiny glass jars and taking your storage solution to a whole new Pinterest-worthy level. It’s amazing; it’s ‘gram-worthy.

BUT WE’RE HERE TO CLEAR SOMETHING UP.

The big question on how to keep your coffee pods fresh is actually simple. We recommend keeping your pods in their pouch until you’re ready to use them. We know, we know! You might want to keep asking, ‘Well, uh… no. What is the best way to store coffee pods? I’ve seen everyone do it differently: glass jars, tins, "Break in case of emergency” trophies.’ (This is actually a real thing for coffee pods, and we’re here for it.)

But actually, the truth is that when you receive your pods, their goodness has been sealed inside their pouch. And inside there is the freshest, tastiest coffee you’re gonna get. Once you crack open the pouch and tip your pods into another glass jar or tin, you’re exposing those pods to more air. This air migrates through the pods over time and can cause the coffee inside to oxidise, which coffee doesn’t like. Imagine coffee is superman and oxygen is kryptonite... let’s not torture superman for a photo op.

Now, one pack at a time is totally fine to put in a jar. Once you crack the seal of the pouch, we recommend using your pods up within 2 weeks and that you store them in a dry, dark place (direct sunlight is also bad for coffee – precious little flower isn’t it!).

What we sometimes see and what we are recommending not to do, is to go and open your entire order at once and store the pods outside of the pouches.

While this isn’t necessarily the end of the world, it isn’t ideal if you want the freshest, tastiest cup you can get. Sure our pods look cute all stacked or organised in little vials/beakers/whatever you like, but it’s just good to know. The choice is yours, but we thought we better let you know.

We hope that clears things up! Keep your pods fresh, let it rip when you’re ready to brew. BOOM!
