As a first-time Urban Brewer, people often hit us with a bunch of questions, one of which being, “Do you guys do sample packs?”

In short, yes. But not in the way you expect. We've taken some of our tastiest intensities and bundled 'em up to make a Delish Duo Sampler so that you can try us out for FREE. We can still hear the questions rolling in - "But, why are they giving us samples of their AMAZING coffee pods for free?" "Why can't I get one of everything?" Well, let us explain ourselves...

LET’S START WITH QUALITY

Here at Urban Brew, we put quality above all else – quality service, quality experience and, obviously, quality coffee.  If we were to produce sample packs, we would have to sacrifice some of that quality.

But why?

In our factory, intensities are produced in bulk on a rotation of a few weeks. So, we’ll spend a couple of days producing #8s, a couple producing #12s, a few producing #14s, and so on. This routine depends on both the popularity of the intensity, and what beans we have in stock. Currently, we rotate our stock every two months, meaning you not only get the best-valued coffee - you're also getting the freshest coffee possible. 

If we were to produce sample packs, we would need to take a random guess at how many coffee pods we should put aside to make the packs as we don’t yet know the size of demand. This would mean they would be sitting around somewhere as we made the other intensities. Each pod would also have a different expiry date than another. The result would mean less fresh and less consistent coffee.

THE IMPACT

We have tried our best so far to make coffee that you all love, and the environment doesn’t notice. Bringing in sample packs will mean more packaging has to be developed, more emissions in developing them, and potentially more waste if they aren’t in demand or we can’t make the other intensities fast enough – resulting in pods having to be thrown away.

COST

As a small business, we can’t avoid the fact that cost is a big factor when it comes to creating new products. We also can’t avoid the fact that, as much as we would love to give you all the coffee in the world, we only have one machine for each type of coffee pod (one for Nespresso pods and one for KFEE/Caffitaly pods). As you might have seen on one of our other videos, these boxes are packed automatically by a machine when being produced. If we were to make sample packs, we would either have to purchase a machine that sorts and packs them for us, or bring on more staff whose only job is to pack each box of sample packs by hand. The extra cost involved in either of these options would then be passed down to you guys. The reason we offer the best and cheapest coffee pods on the market is that we don't have the cost of extra items, such as sample packs, hidden in the price of all of our products like other businesses.
