Times are a-changin’ at Urban Brew, and we couldn’t be more excited to share what’s happening! You’ve been with us since day one, and in case you’ve missed it, we’re ready to sprout some big news … compostable pods are comin’. Yep, that’s right. We’ve been testing, trialling and testing some more in our schmancy coffee lair (think beakers, lab coats and stacks of Choc Waffle Cup), and we’ve finally nailed the perfect compostable pod.

This has been a project that was years in the making, and we’re not finished yet. This is our first step: next, we’ll be looking towards fully 100% home compostable (more on that later), but for now, read on for all you need to know about this switch to our most sustainable pod yet!

ALL THE STUFF YOU NEED TO KNOW

Over the next couple of weeks, you’ll start to notice a difference in your Urban Brew order. Whether it be a once-off order or your subscription, you might get some packs that have our old pod and some that’ll be completely compostable. (You’ll know the difference because our old pods are clear, and our new ones are white. For the folks up the back: OLD = clear. NEW = white.)

Of course, you can use both of these in your machine. Both contain the same delicious coffee you know and love, and both are already awesome for the environment.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU

If you get our compostable pods, you can throw ‘em right into your green waste bin. HOORAY. You’ll also get a handy note explaining that we’re switching over to compostable pods to remind you. Aside from that, there’s nothing else you need to do! If you want, let us know all your feedback, your experience with our new pods, or simply just pat yourself on the back for buying our awesome coffee, packed into an even-Earth-friendlier pod. Go you, you smart cookie.

WHERE TO NEXT

Well, first, we want to thank you for being on this journey with us. For being open to the journey, for trialling our compostable pods back in 2020 and always pushing us to grow. We wanted to give you the heads up now that compostable pods are coming and celebrate with you first! As we also touched on, we’re not stopping here. Today compostable is coming, and soon it’ll be completely 100% home compostable. BOOM!
