Coffee recipes to impress your friends and spoil yourself
Controversial opinion: change is good. Every now and then, it's good to try something different. Here at UB headquarters, we found ourselves almost bored of staring into the same plain ol' brew every day - we needed some spice in our life! And what better spice is there than feeling like you're the epitome of luxury without changing out of your pajamas?
We've put together 6 of the most luxurious and fancy coffees we can think of (complete with alternative milk, of course), to spruce up that boring cuppa. Give ‘em a try and let us know what your favourite is!
ICED MAPLE CINNAMON ESPRESSO
This recipe’s cinfully delicious, we say!
Simply extract your coffee (one shot or two) and add a teaspoon of maple syrup and cinnamon.
Stir that bad boy.
In a separate glass, add ice, your choice of milk and pour coffee over milk.
Top with whipped cream and a dusting of cinnamon.
Take a sip and try not to imagine it’s Christmas in Canada.
CARAMEL CHAI OAT MILK LATTE
Don’t be shy, give it a chai!
Add a teaspoon of caramel syrup into the bottom of your mug and extract your coffee.
In a separate glass, whip cold oat milk, 2 teaspoons of chai powder and 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence until frothy.
Add to coffee and top with whipped cream and a dusting of chai powder.
Enjoyed best with your feet up on the couch.
BISCOFF AND WHIPPED COFFEE CAPPUCCINO
Coffee? We’re crushing it with this cookie-loaded take on the classic cappuccino.
To whip up this bad boy, add 2 tablespoons of hot water, 2 tablespoons of sugar and 2 tablespoons of instant coffee into a bowl.
Whisk lightly with a hand whisk until combined, and then beat on low until foam forms (this may take a minute or two).
In a glass, add one teaspoon of cinnamon and a small squeeze of caramel to the bottom of your mug, extract two pods over and stir to dissolve.
Add whipped coffee over the top and garnish with a crushed biscoff cookie.
Try to avoid drooling before you take the first sip.
SHAKEN ICED BROWN SUGAR ESPRESSO
Now we’re really shaking things up, Sugar.
If you really wanna give your regular cuppa a shake-up, grab a mason jar and combine not one, not two, but three shots with 2 tablespoons of brown sugar and half a teaspoon of cinnamon.
Then, shake it up until it’s foamy!
Add ice to a glass and pour coffee over.
Foam milk with half a teaspoon of cinnamon, one teaspoon of brown sugar and a dash of vanilla extract.
Add milk to coffee and viola!
STRAWBERRY MOCHA ICED LATTE
How’s this for a strawberry-dipped sip!
If you’re looking for a berry-loaded buzz, grab a glass full of ice and fill three quarters with your fave brand of strawberry milk.
Then, melt about 4 squares of Lindt dark chocolate and add 2 shots of freshly extracted coffee, stir to combine.
Add the choc-coffee to the strawberry milk and top with whipped cream, grated choc and a strawberry on the side.
LAVENDER HONEYCOMB LATTE
For the final act in our line-up, we give you a calm caffeinated combo that’s a total twist on the traditional sip.
To start, grab a small saucepan and combine one cup of sugar, one cup of water and two tablespoons of culinary lavender.
Bring to simmer for five minutes and leave to cool, and then strain.
Pop in the fridge.
To make the coffee, extract a pod, add one tablespoon of honey and stir to dissolve.
Add two to three teaspoons of lavender syrup.
Froth milk with one teaspoon of vanilla essence and add to mug.
Sprinkle a little bit of lavender and a drizzle of honey over the top for an extra flair.
There you have it. That’s 6 ways we’re sprucing up the good ol’ cuppa. Of course, if you prefer yours black, with or without milk, no probs!
